Resident Evil 6

GAME NAME: Resident Evil 6

DEVELOPER(S): Capcom

PUBLISHER(S): Capcom

PLATFORM(S): PS3

GENRE(S): Action Adventure

A bit of this, a bit of that and BOOM, a great game

Here we go, back into the new RESI…. Known Characters like LS. Kennedy and Chris Redfield are joined by new characters such as Jake Muller to face a world of Zombie, as the action moves between North America, the war-torn Eastern European state of Edonia and the Chinese city of Lanshiang.

The game leans heavily toward an RPG and is significantly more action orientated that its predecessors. Once you’ve gotten through the prologue, the game provides you with a selection of one of three campaigns, each played from the perspective of a different character and their partner. Each campaign is well designed with overlapping storylines and character interaction. But you will only notice this once you have played with at least two of the characters.

Unfortunately there will definitely be some disappointed fans. The game in essence has changed from a calculated strategic approach to; chop, slice, dice and shoot….shoot….shoot….LOL. At some points in the game it feels more like a first person shooter that a Resident Evil game. That being said, it does offer a RE experience that has not been seen before. The game has however made massive improvements on both the general graphic quality as well as the in game cut scenes… very movie like…. and does tie you more into the story line. The story line, though very predictable is cleverly put together, especially considering the three stand alone parts that make up one story. The down side is that the game has a couple game play drawbacks; the camera is a major issue… unstable and unpredictable… very like the in game partner you play with….if you are not playing with a human partner.

The inventory system… though usable is still not a great improvement and new players to the series will find it difficult to use.

On a plus side, the huge amount of inventory items that is available through pick up and combination, make spending time in the inventory fun in its own way.

The game also has a host of new weapons and enemies and YES…. a lot of the old once (Favourites). In all, the action packed storyline, button pressing killing sprees will appeal to some…. but might not to the old school resident players.

The Three campaigns will take you between 6-10 hour to complete… depending on the difficulty setting. Overall… Money well spent.

First 5 Minutes:

Let’s get into it…. after a bit of prologue and cinematic you will be given the option of selecting one of three campaigns… I started with Jake and Sherry’s Campaign.

First there was Escape from New York. Then Escape from L.A. Now it’s Escape from Edonia. Jake’s and Sherry’s first task is to escape the battlefield buzzing with gunships and rocket fire. The battlefield is chaotic, with rockets exploding often and close to your position. Sprint to the marked house, hop out the window, drop down the ledge, climb the stairs, and get into the house where you get blasted under the floor. Pick yourself up from the rubble, then go out and down to the door you need to use with your partner. This effectively puts you out of rocket explosion danger for now. Enemies in the game have rather short sight ranges; you should be able to sneak up and kill enemies from behind, saving ammo and vitality. Jake can take a shortcut using the swing bar, but he can just as well follow Sherry on her path and team up on enemies. To get by, boost Sherry up, then after the floor collapses, kick down the ladder so both characters can continue….(Full walkthrough available form IGN.com)

Multi – Player:

The game does not allow direct multiplayer i.e. head to head but does offer you the opportunity to co-op with a human partner instead of the A.I in game to complete the campaigns.

This is defiantly recommended due to the shocking A.I that you will notice when playing with the A.I characters in game.

Extras: (Extras Information from Blockbuster.co.uk)

The following Unlocables are available:

Ada Wong’s Campaign is unlocked after completing the normal three campaigns on any difficulty setting. In this campaign, Ada will play as a firepower-based character (she has no melee weapon).

In the end:
In the end, there will be people that love this game…. and hate this game. Some fans will be disappointed and some fans will be pleasantly surprised… “ME” A bit of this, a bit of that and BOOM, a great game

Recommendations:
If you are a hardcore fan…. you may not like this addition… for everyone else this will not be a money waster… “A bit of this, a bit of that and BOOM, a great game.”
